Winning start for Iran’s men in 2024 ICF Canoe Polo World Championships
TEHRAN – Iran's men’s team defeated France 7-1 and Singapore 11-3 in Group F of the 2024 International Canoe Federation Canoe Polo World Championships on Wednesday.
Team Melli are scheduled to play Portugal on Thursday.
Iran’s women’s team also suffered two losses against the Netherlands 9-6 and France 6-1 in Group B.
The Iranian team will face Chinese Taipei on Thursday.
Stakes are high as six men’s and women’s teams can also seal a spot at the The World Games 2025 in Chengdu.
Set to run until Oct. 20 in Deqing, China, a total of 71 teams from 27 countries and all five continents give it their best to be crowned world champions.
Germany are defending champions among men and women.
The tournament was inaugurated on Monday with a spectacular Opening Ceremony, including a parade of the athletes and traditional Chinese dance performances.
